On October 21, DFNC2: German Edition, the German-Ukrainian defense industry session, took place. The event was organized by the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Federation of German Industries (BDI), and the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The session was arranged to facilitate cooperation between Ukrainian and German defense companies in the defense sector.
"Ukraine is currently a land of opportunities. It is here that the trends in the defense industry for the coming decades are being set. New technologies are being tested in real combat conditions. Naturally, we are ready to share the lessons we've learned and the experience we've gained with our partners. We already have experience working with German companies and would be happy to expand it. So, we invite our partners to cooperate," said the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Herman Smetanin.
The session gathered over 100 participants, including representatives from 35 Ukrainian companies, associations, two Ukrainian-German joint ventures, and 12 German companies, including associations. More than 100 B2B and B2G meetings were held during the event.
"Strengthening defense-industrial cooperation is vital and aligns with the strategic interests of both Ukraine and Germany. It opens up vast opportunities for innovation development," noted Matthias Wachter, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Security, Defense, and Space Policy of the Federation of German Industries.
As Minister Herman Smetanin highlighted, Ukraine has a successful track record of cooperation with German companies. This includes the joint venture between Rheinmetall and Ukroboronprom for the repair of German IFVs, cooperation with Helsing in artificial intelligence, the opening of KNDS offices, the production of Quantum Systems, and more. Events such as the German-Ukrainian Defense Industry Session DFNC2: German Edition are part of the DFNC ecosystem and help create new cooperation agreements. The Ministry of Strategic Industries, together with relevant ministries and agencies, continues to work on implementing these agreements to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
