The Ministry of Strategic Industries, together with the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of Ukraine, launched the Iron Range project, a free service provided by the state to arms and military equipment manufacturers for fast and affordable testing of samples at the design stage.
«Iron Range» provides Ukrainian manufacturers with access to the process of rapid professional testing and trials, as well as product evaluation by a military research institute.
Manufacturers can access test sites equipped with the necessary equipment for various types of military weapons and equipment, as well as a wide range of additional services:
"We provide a testing ground open to manufacturers so that they can work not on something that can be useful only potentially, but on what the army really needs, and get quick feedback at the design stage. This allows manufacturers to save time and speeds up the delivery of really necessary weapons and equipment to the front line," says Anna Gvozdiar, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, about the project.
"This project is an important stage in the development of the Ukrainian defence industry, as it allows arms and equipment manufacturers to significantly reduce the time required to test and bring their products to the standards required for real combat operations. This is not just an opportunity for testing - it is a strategic approach to providing the Defence Forces with the weapons they need now and today, and not potentially in the future," explained Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Ivan Havryliuk.
To access the test, please fill out the form here.
After filling out the form and passing the security procedures, the manufacturer receives an invitation to come to a physical test site in Ukraine on a certain day and time. The conditions necessary for testing a sample of the WME are created at the site. Specialised units of the General Staff and the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine provide support to the manufacturer during the tests. In the course of testing, the manufacturer receives methodological recommendations and a conclusion from the General Staff, on the basis of which it can refine its development. The Ministry of Defence selects the weapons and military equipment that have passed the tests for further integration into training programmes.
A manufacturer has the right to use the service more than once during the product development process.
