On November 3, the Ministry of Strategic Industries, Andriy Bohdanets Charitable Foundation "Let's Help Together," and member of parliament Anna Purtova signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The goal is to cooperate in bringing the objects of the Civil Defense Facilities Fund into proper condition.
"I am grateful to the 'Let's Help Together' charitable foundation. I am grateful to Andriy Bohdanets and Anna Purtova for the fact that 32 schools are ready. This is a good example of how we are making more iron shelters at the expense of charitable foundations, local foundations, local authorities, and subventions from the central budget," said Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin.
The 'Helping Hands Together' Foundation has financed the repair and construction of 6 shelters in Kyiv educational institutions (two of them are still under construction). There are 32 such facilities across Ukraine: Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro (Kryvyi Rih), and Chernihiv regions. In total, it cost about UAH 106 million.
"The purpose of the Memorandum is to join forces for the safety of children. Our Foundation has already equipped dozens of comfortable school shelters, but together we will be able to scale this practice to other facilities and regions of Ukraine. It is not only about creating new shelters but also about sharing experience, communication, providing recommendations, developing safety standards, and many other aspects," said Andriy Bohdanets, founder of the Charitable Foundation and MP.
"There is no need to wait for money for shelters from the budget, which should be spent on defense or armament. It is very important to raise additional funds for this cause. That's why it's good when MPs or ministries find international funds, find opportunities not to burden the budget, but to build shelters on their own. And thus save budget funds that should be spent on armaments," said MP Anna Purtova.
