On 13 June, on the sidelines of the 23rd meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence in the Ramstein format, Serhiy Boyev, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine and Trolls Lund Pulsen, Minister of Defence of Denmark signed a memorandum outlining a mechanism for financing the purchase of Ukrainian-made weapons for the needs of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine.

"Denmark has promised to support Ukraine's defence for the next 10 years. This requires, among other things, that we produce more weapons and more ammunition. That is why we are now taking the lead and follow up on a direct request from Ukraine so that in the near future, investments will be made in the Ukrainian defence industry. With Danish-Ukrainian defence industry cooperation, we will ensure faster and more effective military support right at the front line, where it matters," said Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen

This mechanism provides for the possibility of financing both existing and new state contracts with Ukrainian manufacturers. The parties will agree on the list of weapons and the amount of funding based on proposals submitted by the Ukrainian side, which will be determined based on the needs of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine and the capabilities of Ukrainian weapons manufacturers.

"The importance of the act signed today lies in the fact that we have established a clear mechanism for implementing projects to finance the procurement of weapons manufactured by Ukrainian arms manufacturers. Now we are moving on to the direct implementation of the financing projects. We are very grateful to Denmark for its willingness to support our weapons manufacturers and for its leadership in creating the first practical mechanism for raising funds for our defence industry," said Serhiy Boyev.

"This is a great step, as Denmark has become the first NATO country to invest in arms production in Ukraine. This is a confirmation that the Ukrainian defence industry is ready for international cooperation and can meet the highest standards," said Rustem Umerov.

As a reminder, ZBROYARI: Manufacturing Freedom is a global fundraising campaign, a strategic one among partner countries. Its goal is to raise $10 billion for the production of Ukrainian weapons in 2024. Denmark was the first to join the project, allocating $28.5 million.
