Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, Minister for Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshіn, and Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov met with students and teachers of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" to discuss the significance of attracting young people to Ukrainian companies involved in defence research and development.
Addressing the students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the Head of the Presidential Office emphasized that the development of the national defence industry is crucial for future security guarantees for Ukraine.
"Undeniably, the development of the defence industry is among our primary priorities, and it is within your capabilities to create this future," emphasized Andriy Yermak.
According to Alexander Kamyshіn, today's armourers are not only skilled experts, but also innovative young creators who produce their own products, scale them up, and provide services to Armed Forces, programmers, as well as recent graduates with modern perspectives on technological processes.
"The modern armourer is the one who initiates enemy elimination. There are individuals in this room who ensure Moscow never sleeps, Sochi never sleeps, and soon other cities in the Russian Federation will not sleep either. We are facing the greatest war of generations on our soil. It's not just a combat involving soldiers and leaders but also a battle featuring engineers. This signifies a tech race, demanding us to outpace our rivals by being quicker, smarter, and more innovative," declared the Minister.
The head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries mentioned that nearly two thousand pupils have been trainee-shipped at Ukrainian Defence Industry since the start of this significant war, and a third of them have continued to work with the company on permanent basis. "We acknowledge that an armourer is the profession of the future in Ukraine".
Andriy Yermak announced that the first conference "DFNC1: US Edition" on joint Ukrainian-American arms production will take place on 6-7 December in Washington, DC, in accordance with agreements made between Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joseph Biden.
"This event holds paramount significance for our defence industry and will witness attendance from numerous domestic enterprises- both state-owned and private ones. Even more companies hail from the United States. We anticipate a productive and meaningful dialogue that will lead to future business opportunities. We would be delighted to welcome students and graduates from your esteemed university to attend the conference," announced Andriy Yermak.
Rustem Umerov extended an open invitation to young professionals to join design bureaus, military-tech start-ups, and laboratories of Ukrainian defence plants, to apply their knowledge and contribute to Ukraine's progress.
"We already have significant achievements. Machine gun turrets on mobile platforms that destroy enemy infantry. Reconnaissance and attack UAVs that destroy enemy logistics, MLRS, artillery and command posts. Naval drones, which defeated the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Behind each of these means is an engineer, a researcher, a tester. In particular, these are graduates of your university," the Minister of Defence of Ukraine noted.
According to Alexander Kamyshіn, the Ministry of Strategic Industry is constantly searching for innovative solutions for humanitarian demining and modern developments for military equipment and weapons, and is actively working with young inventors as part of Brave1.
"We believe in Ukrainian defence. We believe that Ukrainian weapons can bring us closer to victory. And we believe that high-tech products will become the engine of our economic recovery," said Alexander Kamyshіn.
