On November 24, an industrial meeting was initiated by the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Representatives from 30 companies, both state-owned and private, engaged in the production of weapons and military equipment, attended the meeting. Discussions focused on supplying weapons and military equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2024, as well as the Ministry of Defense's procurement plans for the following year.
The primary emphasis is on providing the Defense Forces with domestically produced goods, thereby contracting manufacturers and creating favorable conditions for investments in defense production.
Alexander Kamyshin, the Minister for Strategic Industries, highlighted the significant increase in the capabilities of the domestic defense industry. This year's increase is three times higher than that of last year, and it is projected to be six times higher by 2023. In the current year, the defense industry has become one of the major drivers of Ukraine's economic recovery. Minister Kamyshin emphasized their commitment to producing everything domestically, in line with the clear directive from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the shared position with Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov.
Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov called on businesses to cooperate and pledged support to manufacturers. He stressed the goal of localizing as much production as possible in Ukraine for the sake of national security. Minister Umerov urged Ukrainian companies to collaborate based on clear rules, and the government's commitment is to ensure simple and transparent procedures for cooperation with defense companies.
