Oleksandr Kamyshin spoke about the importance of increasing the share of private manufacturers in the system of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex. He emphasized the readiness of the Ministry of Strategic Industries to support the domestic defense business and look for ways to an effective public-private partnership.
During his speech at the iForum 2023 conference, the Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin presented the general vision of the ecosystem of the Ukrainian defense industry during the war. "Before the start of the full-scale invasion, the state defense sector occupied 70-90% of the system. Today, the private defense sector is growing faster and approaching balance," he said.
The Minister believes that after the victory of Ukraine, it is the private sector that will occupy a significant part in the defense industry, as it develops faster. "Defense industry is a very interesting sector for IT engineers and not only. This is the area that can provide great opportunities for growth today. If we understand this, we will be able to build Ukraine as an arsenal of the free world," Kamyshin added.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries noted that his team is open to ideas from Ukrainian entrepreneurs and joint work on their implementation. Answering the moderator's question about the direction of the defense industry, which the Ministry is ready to support, Oleksandr Kamyshin noted that it depends on the request of the manufacturers. "Where there is more demand from the private sector for collaboration, we are ready to take it up there. The Ministry is ready to communicate with the private sector," he concluded.
For 13 years in a row, the iForum conference has been held in the format of simultaneous presentations. This year, the format of the conference has been adapted to the realities of wartime and a large discussion panel in the field of Military Tech was added.
