Oleksandr Kamyshin said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces is constantly increasing its capacity and last month produced several times more mortar and artillery shells than in the whole of 2022. In a telephone interview with The New York Times, the Minister for Strategic Industries emphasized the need for Ukraine to continuously increase its own production capacity in order to be able to provide a sufficient number of shells and equipment for the Defense Forces of the state and bring the victory in the war against Russia.
According to the Minister, the domestic defense industry makes an "important contribution to the counteroffensive". Oleksandr Kamyshin noted that "hundreds" of weapons production plants are involved in the Ukrainian defense industry, a significant part of which is concentrated on the production of ammunition and drones. According to him, the production of armored fighting vehicle (AFV), as well as logistic and transport vehicles, is also ongoing.
"I am confident that the defense industry will be the backbone of security during the war," he said, predicting that "we will be the engine of economic revival after the war is over."
